Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

I was having a difficult time recently as a person who had meant to be the most loving and kind to me did something that I can never forgive, and I was talking to a friend about how I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if things had turned out differently. If I had been treated with kindness instead of loathing.
He responded by telling me about this poem. Life is a journey of many roads that we can not take but we should not be looking back constantly at where we could have been but instead looking forward otherwise we will miss the beauty on the path we are currently treading. It is find to look back a little to remember how we got to where we are and reflect on who we are but there is no point reflecting on the person we could have been or how others may have treated us differently because we can not actually go back.
