July 2015 Update

Sun 19 Jul 2015 - 14:25 by LyxisMorgan

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Writer's Cauldron (or Welcome Back - It's good to see you again)

There have been a couple changes on the site over the past couple of days. The site has changed skin again going back to one of my favourite colours. (Black is always the new black)

You may notice that widgets that failed to work have been removed and replaced by a few new widgets (Widget - an application, or a component of an interface, that enables a user to perform a function or access a service) On the portal there are two widgets from PaganNews.com; a daily rune and a daily trivia. One the home screen the Deity of the Day has been joined by a Tarot of the day. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one who finds these interesting and fun.

The Gods and Goddesses section of the Book of Shadows has now got sub caterogeries so that you can view deities by culture (well some of them)

That's it for now so get out there and continue writing, reading and having fun!!!

Hey everyone and welcome to The Writers Cauldron (or welcome back)... As you can see by the last news post, I really don't update the news too often.

Changes: A new colour scheme, dead links have been removed and on the home page there is now a Deity of the Day widget (let me know if you have any ideas for anything else you wish to see on this site)

New Posts:
Mythic Oracle has finally posted Issue Three (Ryla even tells you in her article why she did not meet her release date - please note Mythic Oracle is a fictional newspaper with a jovial horror theme)
You can check it out by following this link:
http://betweenthelines.darkbb.com/t406-mythic-oracle-issue-3 Issue 4 will be coming very soon!

KidaBunny posted a new story in the action and adventure section called 'Conviction'. Follow this link to have a read: http://betweenthelines.darkbb.com/t405-conviction#480 (please note you do have to be a member to view most of the stories and poems by members of this site)

And more Deities have been added to the Book of Shadows why not read about Bumba- the god of Vomit (Actually he is an African creation god with a very upset tummy but I was very fascinated researching this one) The Link: http://betweenthelines.darkbb.com/t412-bumba-african-god-of-vomit

In the Spotlight: In the spotlight is a new idea where I choose a poem or story that I really enjoyed and link it in the news (I won't be choosing my own for this because that just would not be fair) This time I have chosen "Pirate Raid" by KidaBunny Follow this link to check it out: http://betweenthelines.darkbb.com/t398-pirate-raid#485

Reading Month

Wed 22 Aug 2012 - 14:11 by LyxisMorgan

Hello Book Fans study

Starting on the 1st September 2012 this site will be having a reading month. Join us to talk about your favourite books and Authors, to share what your currently reading and to really celebrate the best in fiction.

To start off the month I have found the '1000 Must Reads' as decided by 'The Guardian' why not have a look through those now and see which ones you have read or even which ones you really want to read. ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/jan/23/bestbooks-fiction )

Other events coming up on this site:

Writers Month: February 1st 2013 (chase away that writer's block with a month dedicated to writing, with challenges to really test your skills and ideas to really get you creating new ideas)

Pagan Pride: May 1st 2013 (the best month to celebrate what it is to be Pagan - with Beltane to start us off)

Poetry Month: July 1st 2013 - Join us to celebrate the best in poetry.

After many tears of frustration - and a few threats aimed at the internet (even one aimed at my laptop)- I finally managed to achieve what I started trying to do about a month ago. Yay me! cheers
You will now notice (if you have visited this site before) that I have a few links down the left side of the screen (trust me they weren't there a few days ago.)
The first link "view my stats" is a visitor log - if you want you can click on the link and see who is being drawn to this site (this is really for my benefit Razz )
The second (if you are viewing this message from the portal - which, to be fair, most people do) is a link to a website that is very useful, if you have a website of your own (it gets people coming to your site.)
The final three "Witches' Cottage", "Writer's Zone" and "Fun Zone" are internal links within this site. (the main site attractions perhaps flower )

What else is new?

I have added a new area in the poetry section of the site. "Published Poems" This area is for people to include poems that they have had published elsewhere. It's your place to say look what I've done! (If you have a video of yourself reading the poem why not embed it as well.)

Two new forums have been added to the writer's Zone "Mythic Oracle" and "Mythic High" Mythic Oracle is an internet newspaper that Lyra invented and is being added to on a fortnightly basis. Mythic High is eventually going to be a role playing game. We are working on creating it at the moment so hopefully it will be up and running within the next few months. (I did say HTML was something I struggled with right?)

Thanks to RosieBell we have now got a lot more data for the "Correspondences" Forum in the witches' Cottage. sunny

Well that's it for now... Enjoy your visit and Come again soon.

Into the New Year...

Sat 31 Dec 2011 - 16:13 by Feronia

Hello everyone.

As you can see (if you are a returning user) the site has gone under a few changes in the last month... we are closing down our other site and moving all the data from it to this one which means that this one is now more than just another writing site.
The reason for closing down the other site was because it was receiving too much spam and we were getting fed up with deleting it every day, also it is allot easier to manage just one site rather than two.

There is still more to be done to the site... including a new colour scheme.

Finally we would Like to wish you all a very happy New Year and that you do not all suffer to badly with hangovers the next day

So Happy New Year everyone
